It's here!! Hello, it's the man bun! Now that the New York Times picked it up I think it is going to be a real mainstream thing to do with your hair. Of course you have to be a man. Because what we girls and librarians did for a centuries now and in the last few years has become the IT- Hairstyle for cool, hip "Oh, thats just my undone hair. I don't really care if you think I am cool, because I know I am cool anyway" chicks has now been picked up by some stylish men. Yes, the man bun! The NY Times worte an article about how in certain arty neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Bushwick, some men are twisting their long hair into a bun.
Until now just actors/rockstars, athletes, David Beckham or samurai wore their hair up in knots. Mostly for practical reasons.

So forget all these boys with their undercuts because if you want a real man in your life- take one with a bun because you really have to be a man to wear your hair like this!

Apfelstrudel

During the week me & BF have rarely time to spend it in the kitchen with cooking and/or baking projects. But this weekend BF wanted to try something new.... so he made Apfelstrudel! It's an austrian dessert classic and we both never made one ourselves before.

I wish I could give you a taste of this wonderful homemade apfelstrudel! We used 2 kg apples -because the strudel was for 10 to 12 personen- hazelnuts, raisins, cinnamon and whipped cream for the filling. Afterwards the kitchen was a mess but the apfelstrudel tasted soooo good!

Karl Lagerfeld is having a line at net-a-porter  and it's crazy what the fine people of net-a-porter did to hype the launch of the line. You can also get yourself karlified.  And of course the interview- Karl is interviewing Karl. I think it's a little bit odd- but fun!

Chanel Spring/Summer 2012

Yesterday I was dreaming of Paris... Today I will show you something else that for me is always unseparable with this wonderful town. It's Chanel!

In this behind the scenes video of the actual shoot you'll see the beautiful Joan Smalls and Saskia de Brauw perform acrobatics, see them rope climbing and even swimming in Chanel clothes. The whole thing was styled by Carine Roitfeld btw. It's my favourite spring/summer campaign!

As a fan of fierce and old-school masculine cuts I was immediately hooked. The colours, the presentation, the cuts, the models… A perfect show! I hope to see some of this looks on the streets next winter. Even if its not Prada I would love to see men just wearing this daring style.

Mama Knows Best

I have very dry skin in the winter but using just a richer cream does not do it for my niggling skin. Either it is still not enough or it is too much or something is in it that makes my skin break out- like really breaking out. Like looking like a teenager in the worst-skincondition-kind-of-way. Like.. yeah.. just awful. 
I normally rely on Lush Products or skincare from the apothecary or my dermatologist. So at first I wasn't sure what to think of the Chanel Moisturizer my mum gave me a few weeks ago. I looked it up on the internet and the description on Chanel website reads as follows : 

"A comforting moisturizing cream for dry or very dry skin goes to the source of skin's hydration needs. At the heart of the formula: CERATONIA PFA* powerfully stimulates hydration; a Hydrabarrier System™ locks it in, resulting in healthy-looking, smooth, supple skin."

Well another moisturizing cream with some superduper never been here ingredient I thought. Chanel is for sure a lot of things but in skincare I never trusted fashion companies which are actually known for their sublime clothes. Skincare from a brand like that? I don't know.... But two weeks of testing had thaught me- suprise!- that it's actually very effective on my skin. I used it daily for the last 14 days now and my skin feels really good, smooth and not even a bit dry. It's the perfect match for my winter skin although I think after a few months I won't be able to use it anymore because I guess it's just to rich for my needs in spring or summer. But maybe a lighter gel or another generous gift from my mum will find me something just as good to use in summer ;)

I did it again

If you want something the warms you from inside. If you want a happy face- or a few more- sitting around your table. If you want good food without standing a minute in front of your oven. If you had no time to shop for groceries and your fridge is empty. If you want a delicious dinner and an even better dessert afterwards... Pie Factory!! I did it again...
As so often these days I'm having a very busy work week and no time for anything. A friend of mine actually had to let in the painters and monitor them because their time schedule and mine weren't very agreeable. In the past I looked after her cats a few times now while she was away for different reasons- so this time she looked after "my" painters. On the way home I picked up a few of this wonderful pies as a little thank you. This time I took the Chicken Deluxe Pie, Soup, the new Steak Pie and a perfect Maroni Amarena Tart for the BF who also was already at home at that time. She stayed almost until midnight and we had a wonderful evening. Comfort food FTW!

Morning routine

                                                        Every morning 15 min workout from now on.
                                7 min rope skipping. 50 crunches. 3x 10 upper arm exercises with weights.
           Keeps me in shape and makes me a much a happier person when leaving the house in the morning.

Evenings

Sometimes when I come home after a busy day all I want is my favourite hot chocolate in my favourite cup. The wrinkled paper bag shows my frequent use these days. The pink cup is from the 50s/60s and it is just a little detail that makes my evening much more enjoyable.

What's in your bag?

Lena Hoschek rocks! And so many things are on sale right now! I love her shop with it's adorable interior and 50's charm and her shop girls are always so very nice. In fact I would like to buy much more to make them even happier. I know this sounds totally crazy!
But if sales people are really good in what they are doing- and by god not everyone has the talent to be in sales and be good at it- and understand the customer I am always much happier with the goods I bought and- of course- will come back soon. I love good service which was a little bit harder to find in Austria in the past but it is really getting better in the last years!

I Lost A Bet

Before Christmas I lost a bet with a friend of mine about how much more very yummy (surprise) courses we will get at a Christmas Dinner at Salon Hollmann. I assumed that we will get five more courses. We only got four. So close....
Anyway, now I had to buy him an extremly delicious Sacher- Würfel. It is a chocolate covered sponge cake formed like a cube with a little chocolate coin on top. While waiting in line to get his winning at the Hotel Sacher Cafe I decided to treat myself to one of those sweet little things too. One of my best decisions today!

Last night I watched Jane Austens "Pride and Prejudice" on DVD (again) and like always I was enchanted. You just have to fall in love with the main characters. Keira Knightley plays her part so very well and I know that Jane Austens work has been adapted countless times and in a myriad of ways but I think that Knightleys presence and her little gestures and expressions are making this version of "Pride and Prejudice" easily the best one.

And if you are a die hard fan like me you will just love this beautiful bracelets...
